Notes

Sharing and working together

Sharing

Share a note, or a whole folder, from Share or a right-click. Share with someone by their @handle, or make a link. Either way you choose viewer (can read, copy and comment) or editor (can also write). Sharing a folder shares everything in it, including notes added later.

Editing at the same time

Several people can type in one note at once. Each person’s cursor has its own colour with their name above it, and everyone’s words arrive as they type. Nothing waits on a lock and nobody’s writing is lost.

The faces in the top bar show who has the note open: a green ring means they are looking at it right now, a grey ring means it is open in another tab or a window in the background, and when they close it their face goes away. The Details panel shows the same, along with when each person last viewed and edited it.

Comments

Highlight some text and a comment button appears in the right margin, level with what you selected. Comments open in the side panel, can be replied to and resolved, and every line with a comment shows a bubble in the margin. Viewers can comment too.

Mentions and dates

Type @ to mention someone or insert a date. Mentioning someone the note is shared with sends them a notification; mentioning anyone else just links to their profile. Click a mention to see who that is.

A date in the text is a chip. Click it to change it, or to Add to calendar with a title and notes: it then shows on Today and in your calendar.

Version history

⋯ → Version history lists earlier states of the note, one for every ten minutes of editing, with who wrote each one and what they changed: added words in green and removed words struck through, against the version before. Restoring a version is itself an edit, so it can be undone from the same list.
