Pages, headers and exporting
Page setup
⋯ → Page setup chooses between Pages (separate letter-size sheets with space between them; text moves to the next page rather than running across the edge) and Pageless (one continuous page). It also sets the page colour, including any colour you pick.
Headers and footers
Page setup also has a header and a footer, each with text on the left, the centre and the right. Fill-ins keep them current on every page:
- {page}: the page number, so “Degryse {page}” reads Degryse 1, Degryse 2, and so on.
- {pages}: how many pages there are (“Page {page} of {pages}”).
- {title}: the note’s title.
- {date}: today’s date.
You can add a line under the header or above the footer, and leave them off the first page for a title page.
Exporting
- PDF: ⋯ → Export as PDF opens your browser’s print dialog; choose Save as PDF. Your header and footer print on every page.
- Word: ⋯ → Export to Word or Google Docs → Download .docx. Headings, lists, colours, links, pictures, and the header and footer with page numbers come with it. It also opens in Pages and LibreOffice.
- Google Docs: in the same dialog, copy the note, open a new Google Doc, and paste. The formatting and pictures come with it, and nothing needs access to your Google account.
When printing, browsers add their own title, date and web address at the top and bottom unless you say otherwise. Page setup has a switch for this, off by default: Chrome and Edge follow it. In Safari, untick “Print headers and footers” in the print dialog.
